I have been thinking a lot lately about the value of fictional books in the lives of adults. I have a special place in my heart for fiction, yet I have found in the business world I am amongst the minority. Business books are all good, but a pure diet of them does not give you a very good balance in my opinion. To get the best of both worlds, why not read a fiction book about business and entrepreneurism! These are some of my favorite, and if you have never read them I would recommend them highly. They are the Great Brain series by John D. Fitzgerald. In short, it talks about two brothers from the view of the younger brother. The older brother is a budding entrepreneur who earns money doing anything he can, including selling passes to their newly built water closet (back when that was a new thing). Happy reading, and if you find another fictional book or series about entrepreneurism then let me know.

  1. If you like business fiction, you’ll love Eliyahu Goldratt’s “The Goal”. Besides being an excellent and informative read, Goldratt gives an great essay in the forward about how learning is much more effective when it’s fun.
